Mircea Ciobanu – painting and destiny

An amazing story!

Born in 1950 Bucharest, in a family of intellectuals, brilliant graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts. Since very young, proves to have a tumultuous personality, with a culture that often intimidates those around him. He lives with the feeling that he has a mission, a destiny, and his destiny is to work.

In the early '70s Bucharest, artistic circles should be rapidly. His talent amazes, foreign diplomats flock to buy works. But such talent can not be restricted or subsided, always aspired to freedom.

The idea to leave Romania is born, therefore, normally. After a stay in Paris and one in Brussels, painter and his wife arrive in Switzerland, in 1981, where asylum seekers. A few years later (in 1991), goes to Geneva following a “respiratory complications”, leaving behind an impressive number of works which have not been able to give back and an alleged debt of nine million francs.
